Terms of Service

Published by faye12 at 11:45 pm under Writing Tips Edit This

I just noticed a thread in a random forum I sometimes visit, that was pages and pages long, about how the person writing had got into trouble for copyright infringment of his/her own work.   The party published the same work with two different sites, and clearly had not read the terms of service agreement before signing up for either.  Both of the sites clearly stated in the terms of service that they retained the full rights of the authors works, once published with thier sites.

As simple as it sounds, the tip today is:  Always read the terms and services of any website BEFORE you sign up.  This goes for any site, but in particular sites in which you are publishing any of your original work, be it articles or whatever.  Make sure you can live with the terms or do not sign up.  Happy Writing!

which is a bit of a cheek of the site - unless they have paid for the piece up front! Good advice though
